A new non-partisan group aims to increase voter turnout in the neighborhood and boost Charlestown's influence in elections.

Editor's note: The following information was shared with Patch by the organizers of Vote Charlestown, a non-partisan effort to increase voter turnout in the neighborhood. If you're interested in getting involved, there are more details below and in the attached PDFs.
Thank you so much for coming to tonight to help increase voter turnout, a non-partisan effort that benefits everyone in 02129. We look forward to seeing you and your friends next Sunday [Oct. 30] at 7pm to go over voter lists by precinct and give you "Ask Me About Vote Charlestown" buttons. In the meantime, please join us in doing 5 quick things (that were suggested by the group tonight):
- Invite 5 friends to the meeting next Sunday night!
- Spread the word. Email your network (friends, organization....) about Vote Charlestown. We cannot reach our goal fo 3000 voters without talking to everyone. Talk to your neighbors, your block...the people that you ride the bus with...whoever. November 8th!!!
- Encourage friends to like Vote Charlestown on Facebook. www.facebook.com/votecharlestown. Our goal is 500 by Friday!
- Inform people who need an absentee ballot, need to know municipal elections are non-partisan, need to know where to vote or want to learn more about candidates that information is available on http://www.cityofboston.gov/elections/
- Share other great ideas, words of inspiration...on twitter or anywhere. "We are lucky as Americans to get to Vote! We fought for that right on Charlestown soil." "Vote for your children."
Also if you want to Promote Vote Charlestown with the Logo http://www.cafepress.com/vote02129/8163336. They have t-shirts, bumper stickers, cups...you name it.
