Watch: Boston FD Honors Firefighters who Perished in Blaze

Two firefighters killed in the 2014 Boston Brownstone Fire were honored Sunday with a memorial organized by the city’s fire department.

The 9-alarm Back Bay blaze, which occurred on the afternoon of March 26, 2014, also resulted in the injury of 18 people.

Lt. Ed Walsh, of Watertown, and Firefighter Michael Kennedy, were both laid to rest in West Roxbury last year after being trapped in the basement of the four-story brownstone during the fire.

Lt. Walsh was from Engine Company 33; Firefighter Kennedy was with Ladder Company 15.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued D&J Ironworks, at 59 Waite St. Ext. in Malden, 10 citations totaling $58,000 in fines in September.

The company, welding next door at 296 Beacon St. on March 26, ignited the blaze at 298 Beacon St. by working in unsafe conditions, according to authorities.
