What's Open/Closed on Christmas in Boston
Libraries, retail stores and most post offices are open for business Dec. 24.

Here's a handy list of what's open (and closed) over the next few days in Charlestown and around Boston:
Tuesday, Dec. 24
- Retail stores: Most open, some with varied hours. In Charlestown, Ace Hardware will be open on Christmas Eve from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Olivia Browning will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Know of some other store hours? Add them in the comments section below.
- Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Most open.
- Bars and restaurants: Most open.
- Stock market: Closes at 1 p.m.
- Municipal offices: Closed.
- Banks: Some open, most close early.
- Libraries: Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Schools: Closed.
- Post office: Open, although many will close at noon. Regular mail delivery will take place, last mailbox collections will be at noon.
- MBTA: Operating on a modified schedule.
- Parking Meters: In effect.
- Municipal Tow Lot: Open 8 a.m. to noon.
- Trash/Recycling: Regular schedule.
Wednesday, Dec. 25
- Retail stores: Closed.
- Supermarkets and liquor stores: Closed.
- Convenience stores: Most open.
- Bars and restaurants: Most closed.
- Stock market: Closed.
- Municipal offices: Closed.
- Banks: Closed.
- Libraries: Closed.
- Schools: Closed.
- Post office: Closed.
- MBTA: Operating on a modified schedule.
- Parking Meters: Free, time limit in effect.
- Municipal Tow Lot: Closed, reopens Thursday at 7 a.m.
- Trash/Recycling: Regular schedule.
