The Charlestown Women’s Recovery Initiative will hold its first fundraising event on May 22 – a walkathon at the Bunker Hill Community College Athletic Field that organizers hope will bring generations of women together.
is a project of the Charlestown Recovery House. Participants in the initiative are looking at what recovery resources are available to women in the community – and what needs exist for women, children and families who are affected by addiction. Over the past few months organizers have held regular meetings and partnered with local nonprofits and clubs to try to reach women of all ages and backgrounds in the neighborhood.
The walkathon will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on May 22. There is a $10 signup fee, payable the day of the walk. To download a sponsor sheet to start fundraising, click here. Organizers are encouraging participants to get a flat donation, rather than a per-mile or distance-based donation.
