7th DUI Arrest For Chelmsford Man: Police

Chelmsford police said Francis Harrison was charged with his seventh DUI offense after crashing through a utility pole and mailbox.

CHELMSFORD, MA — A Chelmsford man was arrested this week for his seventh driving under the influence offense, police announced Sunday. Francis Harrison, 59, was charged with a host of crimes. Chelmsford police Chief James Spinney said on Friday at about 10 a.m., Harrison was driving a 1980 red Chevrolet Corvette when he crashed through a utility pole and mailbox in the 100-block of Concord Road.

Harrison was injured and transported to Lowell General Hospital. His injuries were described as minor. The suspect was speeding and not wearing a seat belt in the moments leading up to the crash, according to Spinney. Harrison allegedly refused a blood test for alcohol and other substances at the hospital.

The utility pole Harrison hit snapped and his Corvette "sustained heavy damage," Spinney said.

Harrison's license was suspended and seized.
