Chelmsford Coronavirus Case Count Continues To Climb

CHELMSFORD, MA — Chelmsford's positive coronavirus test rate is continuing to rise, according to the latest municipal-level data released by the Department of Public Health Thursday.

This week, the Town of Chelmsford reported a two-week case count of 272 and a positive test rate of 7.34 percent, which is higher than the statewide rate of 4.97 percent. Also over the past week, Chelmsford was adding 54 new cases per day per 100,000 people. That's slightly higher than the 53.8 cases per 100,000 measured on Dec. 9.

On Thursday afternoon, the state Department of Public Health reported 5,883 new coronavirus cases statewide and 30 new deaths. Over 70 percent of Massachusetts communities reported rising positive test rates over the last two weeks.

The latest vaccine report shows the number of residents who are fully vaccinated has risen to 5.03 million. Just over 76 percent are fully vaccinated in Chelmsford, and over 84 percent are partially vaccinated.

The state releases town-by-town testing data every Thursday, including the number of people tested, the testing rate, the positive test rate, cases and infection rates.
