CHELMSFORD, MA — Since the onset of the coronavirus in Massachusetts, the town has confirmed that there have been 324 people who have tested positive for the virus.

Although the numbers of new cases have dipped, town and state health officials say it's presumed that there are untold numbers of undiagnosed cases in all communities.

"Accordingly, all citizens should stay at home as much as possible, practice social distancing, wash your hands often, clean commonly touched areas often with disinfectant, and abide by all Executive Orders of the Governor," Chelmsford health officials said in a statement.

As of June 9, 324 people have tested positive in Chelmsford and another 16 are considered "probable" cases. Of those who have tested positive only 54 are currently active in the town.

According to state data the rate of cases in town are 900.46 per 100,000 people. By comparison, the rate of confirmed cases in Westford is 587.74 per 100,000 people (they have 136 confirmed cases) and in Lowell where the total number of people who have tested positive is 2,757, the rate is 2,359.26.

Across the state, 100,504 people have tested positive, and another 4,163 are considered probable cases. Some 7,337 have died.
