"(The workers) were performing painting work in a lane that was closed due to the roadwork," Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement Monday. "Authorities were informed that the defendant allegedly drove through the lane closure before striking Thomas O’Day and then crashing his motor vehicle into a construction truck which contained the second male victim. The defendant remained on scene. State Police then allegedly observed the defendant to be under the influence of alcohol."
