Chelmsford Dunkin' Helps Raise $21K For Lowell Hospital Cancer Charity

The Dunkin' at 105 Chelmsford St. was one of seven restaurants that held a Cancer for a Cause raffle from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6.

LOWELL, MA — Cafua Management, which owns a Dunkin' franchise in Chelmsford, recently presented a check for $21,000 to Lowell General Hospital TeamWalk for CancerCare, which aims to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.

The check was presented at an Oct. 13 ceremony at a Dunkin' in Lowell.

The money was raised through a Coffee For A Cause raffle that took place at seven Dunkin' restaurants owned by Methuen-based Cafua, including the location at 105 Chelmsford St. in Chelmsford. The other participating Dunkin' restaurants were in Lowell and Dracut.

The Coffee for a Cause raffle began on Sept. 29, which was National Coffee Day, and lasted until Oct. 6. Seven winners earned free coffee for a year.

The funds went to TeamWalk for CancerCar, which, according to its website, makes a difference in the lives of cancer patients by paying for medications, nutritional supplements, wigs and prostheses, support groups, skilled nursing visits, transportation, mini-grants and support services to patients of all cancer types.

Over the years, TeamWalk for CancerCare has raised over $14 million to help more than 36,000 patients, according to the organization.

"Extending our sincere thanks to Cafua Management LLC and all those who participated in Coffee for a Cause!" TeamWalk for CancerCare said in a statement. "We are so honored to be the recipient of a $21,000 donation. This gift will make a tremendous impact on cancer patients in our care."
