Chelmsford Hosting Hazardous Waste Collection Day

CHELMSFORD, MA — The Town of Chelmsford has announced details about its Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day event later this month.

The collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Chelmsford Department of Public Works, located at 9 Alpha Road.

Participants must show proof of residency before dropping off materials, which are limited to one truckload per household.

Among the items accepted are:

  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries — rechargeable and vehicle
  • Brake fluid
  • Car polishes and waxes
  • Degreasers
  • Drain openers
  • Driveway sealers
  • Epoxies, adhesive strippers and preservatives
  • Fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides and pesticides
  • Hobby/photography chemicals
  • Metal or furniture polish
  • Motor oil, gasoline and transmission fluid
  • Oil paint, paint thinner, solvents, stains and varnishes
  • Oven cleaners
  • Pool chemicals

Officials said they will not accept sharps, latex paint or electronics.
