CHELMSFORD, MA — The Chelmsford Board of Health unanimously voted Monday to institute a townwide indoor face mask recommendation.

The recommendation applies to anyone over the age of two regardless of vaccination status, according to the town.

The decision was made in light of COIVD-19 cases increasing across the region, with many cities and town across Massachusetts approving mask mandates over the last few weeks.

On Thursday, Chelmsford reported 120 new COVID-19 cases over the last two weeks and currently has a positivity rate of 4.16%. As of this week, 69.6% of Chelmsford residents are fully vaccinated and 74.4% have had at least one dose.

The Board of Health is encouraging all eligible residents to gat vaccinated against COVID-19, and free testing is still available here for those who need it.
