Chelmsford Native Appointed Middlesex County DA Communications Director
Alex Zaroulis take on role in DA Marian T. Ryan's office.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan announced this week that Alex Zaroulis has joined the Middlesex District Attorney’ Office as Communications Director.
“Alex is highly regarded as a top communications professional and has an exceptional reputation for integrity and press savvy,” said District Attorney Ryan in a statement. “As the largest DA’s office in Massachusetts, and one of the largest in the nation, my office is committed to being accessible and transparent, and Alex will lead these efforts. She brings a wealth of experience that will benefit this office and those we serve in many ways.”
Zaroulis lived in Chelmsford until she was 10.

Ryan continued “In addition a critical component of our work is education and prevention which is only effective when we are able to get our information and innovative programs disseminated to the public. Those programs include the Middlesex Opiate Task Force, our Safe Babies and Safe Kids Campaign, efforts to protect elders, workplace safety and school initiatives, as well as our Empowering Girls program.”
Zaroulis has more than two decades of experience in strategic communications, media relations and crisis management. Most recently she served as Governor Deval Patrick’s Director of Communications in the Executive Office of Administration and Finance, where she led all communications around the Governor’s fiscal and capital budgets, as well as the Governor’s key reforms on education, health care and innovation. In addition she has led national communications campaigns for key initiatives such as the Commonwealth’s groundbreaking Social Innovation Finance program.

Previously Zaroulis led Zaroulis Communications, a strategic communications firm specializing in communications strategy, crisis communications and community relations for not-for-profit, public and private sector clients.
Zaroulis is skilled at managing integrated public affairs campaigns on both a local and national level to influence public policy with award winning results. Zaroulis also has extensive political communications experience, including serving as Communications Director for Martha Coakley for United States Senate and Midwest Communications Director for Gore / Lieberman 2000. Zaroulisbegan her career as a producer for “Monitor Radio,” the broadcast edition of The Christian Science Monitor. Zaroulis graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Political Science, and received her Master’s of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University’s College of Communication.
