Chelmsford is One Step Closer to Selecting New Superintendent of Schools
School Committee voted this week to enter into negotiations with Lowell's Jay Lang.

Back in July, Chelmsford’s Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Tiano announced he would resign effective July 1. The decision followed a meeting between Tiano and the Chelmsford School Committee to discuss their views for the future direction of the Chelmsford Public Schools and the two mutually concluded each had different visions for the operation and management of the Chelmsford Public Schools.
Tuesday night, Chelmsford’s School Committee voted to enter into negotiations with Lowell Public School’s Deputy Superintendent of Finance and Operations Jay Lang to become Chelmsford’s next superintendent of schools, the Lowell Sun is reporting.
The School Committee is expected to meet again friday in executive session to discuss terms of the contract with Lang. If all goes well, at the committee’s next scheduled meeting on June 9, the contract with Lang would be ratified in an open session.
