Chelmsford PD Welcomes New Officer to the Force

Officer Kristin Leary comes to Chelmsford with experience working for several Massachusetts police departments.

CHELMSFORD, MA - The Chelmsford Police Department announced Wednesday that Officer Kristin Leary had joined the force.

According to a statement from Police Chief James Spinney, Leary comes to Chelmsford after serving with the Westford, South Hadley and Holyoke police departments. She graduated from the Lowell Police Academy in 2000 and holds a Master’s degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College. Leary is also an EMT.

“Officer Leary brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Chelmsford Police Department,” Spinney said. “We see her as a valuable addition to our team and believe she will serve our community well.”

Leary will be assigned to the late-night shift in February after she completes an abbreviated field training officer program.

Her specific skill set as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and a Taser Instructor will help the department to supplement its defensive tactics training staff, according to a statement.
