Chelmsford PD Welcomes Newest, Furriest Officer

K-9 Flacko is retiring, so there's a new officer taking over.

CHELMSFORD, MA — The Chelmsford Police Department is welcoming its newest officer, K-9 Alun. Alun just completed 14 weeks of training alongside his human, Officer David Leo, at the Boston Police K-9 Academy.

Alun is replacing K-9 Flacko, who will be retiring after serving with the department since 2012.

Alun, now patrol certified, will go through even more training this winter.

Flacko won't be in unfamiliar hands, though. The police department said Flacko will live with Officer Leo during retirement. Both pups will work with Leo for the time being.

"Congratulations Officer Leo and Alun — and thank you for your service Flacko!!" the police department said in the Facebook post, embedded below.
