Chelmsford Police To Participate In No Shave November
The Chelmsford Police Department is raising money for those fighting cancer.

CHELMSFORD, MA — If you start noticing more beard and mustaches on Chelmsford Police Department officers, that's because about 20 members of the department are taking part in No Shave November in an effort to raise money to support those battling cancer in the region.
Through the campaign, members of the department may forgo facial hair restrictions during November and donate or raise money to support Lowell General Hospital's TeamWalk for CancerCare fundraiser.
All proceeds benefit cancer patients through funding for things like medications, nutritional supplements, wigs, prostheses, skilled nursing care and transportation.

"Our officers take tremendous pride in being able to show their support for an important cause each November by growing a beard and donating to a deserving organization," Chief James Spinney said in a statement. "I want to invite residents who are able to do so to join us in supporting TeamWalk for CancerCare."
For the past two decades, thousands of people from across the Merrimack Valley have taken to the streets of downtown Lowell each spring for TeamWalk for CancerCare, raising millions of dollars to support people diagnosed with cancer and in need.

This year’s walk was planned for May 31 at LeLacheur Park, but the pandemic changed the plans for an in-person group event to "TeamWalk on Your Terms." The fundraising event will now have people walk and raise money their own way. Donors across the Merrimack Valley responded by raising more than $363,000.
