Chelmsford's Anthony LoConte Earns Athletic Honor At Nashoba Tech

WESTFORD, MA — Chelmsford resident Anthony LoConte was one of two students selected as September Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford.

LoConte, a sophomore, is the captain of the golf team and part of the plumbing and heating program at the school.

With a modified Stableford point system used during Commonwealth Athletic Conference (CAC) play —where the highest score wins — LoConte averaged 26 points per match.

LoConte's best score was a a 34 recorded during a September match against Greater Lowell at the Chelmsford Country Club.

LoConte also qualified to play in both the State Vocational Tournament and CAC League Tournament.

"With his leadership, Anthony has led the Vikings, playing in the No. 1 spot," said Nashoba Tech head coach Sayda Betsold. "(LoConte's) sportsmanship on and off the course shines. He has been a great asset, bringing in more than 25 percent of the team's total points for the season."

The Vikings ended the season with a 6-8 record and they were just one match away from qualifying for states.

"With Anthony (scheduled to return in 2023), we are excited to see where the team will stand next season," Betsold said.

Senior soccer player Samuel Barr, who is from Ayer, was the other Nashoba Tech student named Athlete of the Month for September.
