Body Of Male Kayaker Recovered From Chelmsford's Freeman Lake Monday
An hour-long search was conducted by several emergency units after the report of a boater in distress. The victim has not been identified.

CHELMSFORD, MA — First responders recovered a man's body from Chelmsford's Freeman Lake on Monday afternoon after an hour-long search for the victim, the Chelmsford Police Department said.
Authorities said they believe the man had been kayaking.
The Chelmsford PD said the body was in the custody of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will make a positive identification and determine the cause of death.

According to police reports, at approximately 12:22 p.m. the Chelmsford PD received a report that a man who was boating on the lake was in distress, the department said.
Chelmsford police and firefighters responded to the scene and located the kayak, but were unable to find the boater, the police department said.

The Chelmsford PD said an intensive search of the water was conducted by Chelmsford police and firefighters, the Chelmsford Police Drone Unit, Massachusetts State Police Airwing, Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit and the Lowell Police Dive Team.
Two Chelmsford Fire Department boats were deployed, as was a sonar buoy provided by the Massachusetts Environmental Police, according to authorities.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., the body was located in about 13 feet of water, the Chelmsford PD said.
