Krista Perry is Okay at Boston Marathon

Former Chelmsford Patch editor and 2013 Boston Marathon participant Krista Perry was a significant distance away from the explosions when they occurred

 

Former Chelmsford Patch editor and 2013 Boston Marathon participant Krista Perry is believed to have been a significant distance away when explosions were reported at the finish line of the race earlier today.

Perry, a Dracut resident, reached the halfway point of the race at 2:48:21 according to the Boston Marathon website, putting her on track to finish the race at approximately 4 p.m., about an hour after the explosion occurred.

Patch has been unable to confirm the status of any of the Chelmsford runners.

UPDATE: The Lowell Sun reports that Lowell Sun assistant sports editor and Chelmsford resident Barry Scanlon, was approximately 100 yards away when he finished the marathon today.

UPDATE - 6:35 p.m. - We've been told that Deb Dorsey, another runner from Chelmsford, is okay.

UPDATE - 6:54 p.m. - Krista has reported on her Twitter feed that she is okay. Unfortunately, we have also learned that another Chelmsford resident, 29-year-old Jeff Bauman, was one of those who was severely injured during the blast.

Bauman was not a runner in the race.

UPDATE - 9:03 p.m. - Francine Inman, one of the Chelmsford runners, is okay according to family members.

We have been told she was 385 yards away when the blast occurred.

Her entire family is alright.
