Four Chelmsford Teams Snag Postseason Berths
The MIAA released its playoff pairings over the weekend.
The playoffs start across the state this week, and included in the action will be four Chelmsford teams.
Chelmsford High School's girls basketball team is the top-ranked squad, having earned the No. 5 seed in North Division 1 thanks to a 17-3 regular season record.
The Lady Lions will take on Boston Latin at home on Thursday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the winner takes on either Woburn or Somerville in the quarterfinal round.
Also on the hardwood, the boys basketball team is the No. 8 team following a record of 13-7 in the regular season. The locals will host Lowell at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, hoping to advance to face top see St. John's Prep in the quarterfinals with a win.
Chelmsford's boys hockey team is the No. 13 squad in North Division 1 play following a 9-6-6 campaign. Despite being the lower seed, the Lions will play Melrose at home on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m.
The winner of that contest will take on either Arlington Catholic or Reading in the quarterfinals of what is a loaded bracket.
The Chelmsford girls hockey team will have to pull a few upsets to advance in the Division 1 tournament. The Lady Lions are the No. 22 seed and will play No. 11 Braintree in Randolph on Tuesday night.
If the locals can advance, they will take on Winthrop/Lynn in the first round.
