Heroin Arrests Near Chelmsford Hannaford: Police

Chelmsford police said Jason Laroche and Dennis Messer, of Nashua, New Hampshire, were charged with heroin possession.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Two New Hampshire men with heroin were arrested Monday near the Chelmsford Hannaford, according to police. Jason Laroche, 38, and Dennis Messer, 44 — both of Nashua — were arrested on Drum Hill Road at about 1:30 p.m., according to Chelmsford Deputy police Chief Dan Ahern.

"Chelmsford Police officers were patrolling in the area of Hannaford Supermarket ... when they observed two men -- later identified as MESSER and LAROCHE -- behaving suspiciously," Ahern said in a statement. "Following an on-scene investigation, the officers determined that MESSER and LAROCHE had heroin in their possession, and placed both men into custody."

Ahern added, "During the process of the arrest, a vehicle drove past the officers at a high rate of speed and nearly struck one of them before leaving the parking lot. It is currently unclear whether the vehicle that nearly struck an officer is connected to the individuals who were arrested, and Chelmsford police are continuing to investigate."
