Highlights From Our Chat With BoS Candidate Bob Joyce

Budgetary Surpluses

Joyce's main concern is not stabilization funds, but the amount in free cash and returning that to taxpayer rather that further projects like the new DPW site.

The Proposed Bladder Dam

Joyce agrees with the Selectmen's position that the proposed dam would negatively impact people in Williamsburg and that it should be opposed.

Roland Van Liew

Despite an endorsement from Van Liew, Joyce does not see himself in a coalition.

He also said he does not agree with Van Liew on requiring written contracts for projects over $2,000. However, he believes that more oversight is needed.

Convenience Store Liquor Licenses

Joyce generally supports the idea.

Turf Fields

Joyce is opposed to CPC money to be used on the project, and believes no money for it should come out of the town's capital budget.

He also believes that the benefit to the town will be limited due to limits on the amounts of parents whose children would use the fields.

Town Center Traffic

Joyce believes traffic delays can be fixed somewhat by "tweaking" times on the lights, and extending the left arrow heading into the center from Rte 110.

Town Meetings

He would prefer going back to an open town meeting, and feels that representative town meeting reps have too many ties to specific groups.
