How Do I Submit a Letter to the Editor to Chelmsford Patch?

We always welcome letters to the editor. Here's how you can send yours this election season, and into the future!

It’s a question we get asked a lot: “How do I submit a Letter to the Editor?”

Well, there are two ways.

1. As a local voices column, also known as a blog post. Submitting a Letter to the Editor that way is easy, and....

  • It will be approved immediately and instantly available through search engines like Google and through the search function here on Patch.
  • We'll generally try to get it onto the front page within 24 hours in most cases, often much sooner (the record is about 16 seconds)
  • With the cream of the crop, we'll aim to put your letters into the "Top 4" slots ASAP. Please note though that we will only do this with either Chelmsford residents, those who work in or represent Chelmsford, or those who are talking about a Chelmsford-specific topic.

All you need is a free Patch e-mail account. Once you've got that and you've signed in, just click here or click on the "start a blog" button on the home page and then push the "Post on Patch" button.

2. By emailing it to chelmsford@patch.com.

We definitely prefer the first method, but we can accept e-mailed letters if absolutely necessary. However, please note that we strongly prefer letters submitted by the first method.

Any letters provided through the local voices section always receive precedence regardless of the content or author, and any e-mailed letters are pushed to the back of the line when new local voices section letters come in.

Note #1: We do accept Letters to the Editor that have been published or submitted to other publications.

Note #2: We'll grandfather in any letter e-mailed prior to March 19 with the privileges of local voices columns.
