Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash In Chelmsford On New Year's: Cops

The vehicle he was in struck utility poles and rolled over, police said.

CHELMSFORD, MA — A 30-year-old Billerica man died Sunday night after the vehicle he was driving smashed into two utility poles and rolled over in Chelmsford, police said.

Officers responded near Littleton Road for a report of a single-vehicle crash at around 8:15 p.m., and upon arrival, they found the man was suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries, police said, adding that he was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The department sent its accident reconstruction unit to the scene and officers are continuing to investigate, police said. Members of the Chelmsford Fire Department assisted on the call, as didNational Grid, which will repair the broken utility poles, according to police.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

It was the second fatal crash in a matter of hours on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, a 23-year-old woman was killed in a crash on I-95, NBC Boston reported.
