What's Open, Closed In Chelmsford On Christmas Eve, Christmas

CHELMSFORD, MA — If for some reason you're hoping for places to be open in Chelmsford this Christmas, you've got two things working against you. One, it's Christmas. And two, it's on a Saturday this year.

It's always best to call ahead before going anywhere on the holidays to check hours, but here's a general look at what's open and closed on Christmas.

Chelmsford Town Hall will be closed on Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The town's post office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday and closed Saturday.

Banks are also closed Christmas, but many are open Christmas Eve. Check individual branches for hours.

Trash and recycling pickup in Chelmsford will not be interrupted this year because Christmas lands on a Saturday. Collection will occur as normal on Friday.

On Christmas Eve, the MBTA's bus and subway lines will be on a Saturday schedule, while everything else runs on a regular weekday schedule. On Christmas, most of the T will run on a Sunday schedule, except the commuter rail, which will be on a regular weekend schedule. There will be no Christmas ferry service.

Most malls and shopping centers are open with limited hours on Christmas Eve. Nearly all retail is closed on Christmas.

Many pharmacies and drug stores are open to some extent on both Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Liquor stores will be closed Christmas.
