5 Things: American Bones and 'Menopause the Musical'

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Aug. 1 in Concord.

1. Menopause the MusicalAt 7:30 p.m. tonight, drop by the Emerson Umbrella for "Menopause The Musical," a hilarious musical farce featuring four women at a lingerie sale with nothing in common but a black lace bra, memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats ... oh, you know deal. Classic tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s will have you cheering from your seats and and dancing in the aisles! 

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Advisory Committee at 8 a.m. and the Historic Districts Commission at 7 p.m. 

3. Artist's Reception for "American Bones:" Featuring paintings and photography by Zannah Noe, "American Bones" comes to the artist's hometown of Concord this weekend. The artists reception, from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Albright Art Gallery, precedes a weekend-long show of paintings and photographs by San Francisco artist, Zannah Noe. From the description: "The work removes the exhausted patriotism of Americana and seeks to celebrate the working and creative classes, reveal the irony in our nostalgia and depict regional architecture and landscapes."

5. Another Sunny One: Areas of fog early should lift in time for a mostly sunny day with a high of 81, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts possible showers and thunderstorms overnight with a low of 64.
