6-Alarm Fire Draws Firefighters From Across Region

The fire along Sudbury Road on Sunday destroyed a two-family home and left one firefighter injured.

CONCORD, MA — Dozens of firefighters from across the region worked together on a six-alarm fire at a home along Sudbury Road Sunday night, according to local fire departments.

The fire broke out just after 9 p.m. in a two-family home at 119 Sudbury Road, according to the Concord Fire Department. The fire may have started on a porch and spread quickly into the interior of the home, firefighters said.

All residents made it out of the home safely, but were left homeless after the fire. The cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday morning. One firefighter was taken to Emerson Hospital due to heat exhaustion.

In total, 65 firefighters responded to the blaze from towns including Sudbury, Wayland, Weston, Lincoln and Maynard. The large response was due to the size of the fire, but also the heat. Temperatures were near 100 degrees on Sunday in the area.

"This was great work by everyone involved to get this fire under control and prevent it from causing more damage," Concord Chief Thomas Judge said in a news release. "I want to thank all of our mutual aid partners that responded and helped to put out this fire in these extreme temperatures."
