Concord Conservatory of Music (CCM) uses the language of music to help children with developmental needs flourish. Parents often seek extracurricular activities for their children to help expand their horizons. It is not an easy task, and it becomes even more complicated when a child has developmental needs. CCM is deeply committed to providing educational opportunities for all learners, working with the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts to bring Tones of Fun Developmental Music Class to our community. The 45-minute class meets on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm for ages 3 – 6 and 5:15 pm for ages 7 – 9.

Maura Lyons’s son, Daegan, is a member of the Tones of Fun class. Maura shared, “This class is so important to my family and me; it’s the highlight of our week. It is the only activity in town that Daegan can share with his siblings, myself, and his friends. It brings him so much happiness and excitement. It truly melts my heart to see him so focused on something he loves.” In the class, Daegan is focusing, socializing with peers, learning how to take turns and be in a group, and discovering new songs and instruments.

Daegan’s two sisters are at the class, and Maura says they also benefit from the weekly sessions. “My daughters use skills from class and songs to interact, engage, and play with Daegan at home. Tones of Fun is an amazing program and teaches us how to use music to bring a smile to Daegan’s face!”
