Concord Resident to Recieve the RFK Children’s Action Corps’ Award

Rick Loughlin, along with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares will receive the group's Embracing the Legacy Award on June 14.

 

Concord resident Rick Loughlin, president emeritus of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage New England, and a member of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares (CBRBC) advisory committee, and CBRBC will receive the RFK’s Children’s Action Corps’ Embracing the Legacy Award on June 14. Loughlin oversaw the day-to-day sales and operations of more than 4,000 sales associates and employees in 90 Coldwell Bankers offices in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

“It is a great honor to be recognized,” Loughlin said. “It is critical for our culture to give back the community. A company of our kind does a lot in the communities we’re in. It is humbling to be presented with this award, but it is really for the people who work at Coldwell.”

“In the spirit of the Robert Kennedy’s belief that individuals can make a difference in the world, the agency presents the Embracing the Legacy Awards individuals or corporate citizens who have worked to eliminate injustices that affect children,” Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps’ president and CEO Ed Kelley said. “We created this award six or seven years ago to honor those who exemplify Senator Kennedy’s vision of values and a better society. Rick has been very involved in youth services and welfare.”

Loughlin has been a real estate professional for 37 years, starting off in a five-person company in Concord in 1974. Under his leadership, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares, the fundraising arm of the company, has grown to become a significant supporter of community-based nonprofit organizations and has contributed more than $3 million to 250 New England-based nonprofits, including the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps.

“We would honor Rick even if he hadn’t contributed to our organization,” Kelley said. “They (Codwell) serve as financial sponsors of various agency events. When the real estate market dipped, they granted us the technical assistance to produce DVDs about our agency. They built a playground on its Lancaster campus, Rick was reading to the children when I last saw him two weeks ago.”

“For over 40 years, we have honored the legacy of Bobby Kennedy by helping families and children at risk. Anyone interested in helping local at risk children should contact our organization,” vice president of development and external affairs Cecilia Roddy said. “We always need volunteers. “

Dr. William Bell, president and CEO of Seattle-based Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest foundation focused on improving the child welfare system, Susan Wornick, anchor of WCVB-TV’s midday newscast, who has been a longtime supporter, volunteer, and member of the RFK Children’s Action Corps’ advisory council will also receive the award.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, June 14 at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Columbia Point, Boston.
