CONCORD, MA — A Newton-based charity that benefits local homeless and low-income children is in the midst of a pre-winter donation drive this month in Concord.

Cradles To Crayons is asking for donations of gently used items for children like coats, clothing, shoes and books. The donation is accepting items for kids ranging in age from birth to 12.

"As winter begins, families face another year with limited purchasing power against sustained high heating, housing and food costs," Cradles to Crayons Massachusetts Executive Director Aubrey Henderson said in a news release. "The warm layers and cold weather outerwear provided by Cradles to Crayons will be a critical lifeline for families on limited budgets."
