Embattled Minuteman Superintendent Gets Contract Extension

The School Committee gave Edward Bouquillon the extension despite questions about his handling of contract bids.

Minuteman Regional High School Superintendent Edward Bouquillon got one year added to his contract, even as he faces questions about his handling of the bidding process for school contracts.

The vote was far from straight forward, according to a Boston Globe report, with the School Committee voting after an hour of input from the community and the submission of a petition signed by 55 community members calling for Bouquillon's contract to be denied.

Eight school committee members vote to approve the contact, four voted against and one abstained, according to the report in the Globe.

Along with the extension, Bouquillon also got a raise of more than $26,000, to make his salary $179,700, the Globe reported. He became superintendent of the vocational school in 2007.

In April, Bouquillon took responsibility for violations of the state's bid procurement law when Minuteman officials awarded a contract to get an appraisal of the schools property on Marrett Road in Lexington, according to the report. The violations were found during a forensic audit of the school, but no misappropriation of funds were discovered.
