Gas Leak At Concord's Newbury Court Retirement Community

Concord Fire is on the scene of a carbon monoxide leak at the Newbury Court retirement community.

CONCORD, MA — Concord Fire is on the scene of a carbon monoxide leak at the Newbury Court retirement community, officials said Wednesday morning.

A total of 70 residents have been temporarily relocated as a result of the leak, which was first reported at 7:36 a.m., Concord Fire said.

First responders discovered highly-elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the basement of the north building, according to officials.

Two contractors working at the site and two residents of the facility were taken to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.

Inbound traffic from Old Road to Nine Acre Corner was temporarily shut down, allowing only emergency personnel going to Emerson Hospital to pass. ORNAC has since reopened.
