Meet the Artist: Janna Ugone

Janna Ugone will be in the gallery from 1-5 introducing a collection of her lampshades. All shades and lamps will be 10% off April 27 only.

Artisans Way, 18 Walden Street in Concord, will be hosting an exclusive event featuring original, hand-painted lamp shades from Janna Ugone & Co. from Saturday, April 27 through Sunday, May 12. These original oiled parchment lamp shade classics from the studio’s archives are the last of their kind. (In more recent years, the shade designs have been printed rather than individually hand painted.) Owner and designer, Janna Ugone, will be at Artisans Way on April 27 from 1-5 to discuss her design inspirations and her experience of more than three decades in the lighting and home furnishings business. All shades and lamps will be 10% off on April 27 only.

Janna is passionate about lighting as a key component of making a home feel and look its best. Merging traditional artistic processes with innovative technology, she has continually strived to present fresh ideas for the home. Drawing on her love of nature, she uses this inspiration as a constant touch point for her work. As an avid gardener and collector of found curiosities, Janna concentrates on bringing the calming natural world to daily life.

Along with her tight-knit team, she produces a modern heirloom collection of artful and distinctive handmade table, floor, ceiling and wall lighting, lamp shades, and home décor. Since 1987, this small team has fabricated their line in a restored New England mill building in Easthampton, MA. Combining inspirational art and utility for everyday creative living is at the company’s core. Creating lighting that makes a room feel unmistakably unique, and providing the proper light for the task at hand for years to come is the company’s mission. From classic period homes, to modern rustic cabins, to quintessential cottages and beyond, each distinctive lamp adds an eclectic design element with original art that warms the home.

Janna Ugone & Co is driven by the creativity and craft of handmade lighting and teamwork. The studio staff, who have been adding soul to the collection for over 36 years, are a small group of masterful artisans that collectively create each piece. With extraordinary attention to detail, each piece draws you in with its jewelry-like fine metal work and artful imagery. Sculpting their own hardware, designing, printing and fabricating lamp shades, producing metal and pottery bases, Janna Ugone & Co presents an exceptional collection that is authentically handmade in America. Artisans Way has represented their work for over a decade and is the sole retail location offering the archival shade collection.

Shades and lamps will be 10% off on Saturday, April 27 only. For additional information, check the website at www.artisansway.net/events or call (978) 369-4400.
