Monday Essentials: Road Work, Work Shops and Work for Corn

Here's a quick look at what you need to know for the week ahead in Concord.

1. Selectmen Meet MondayThe Board of Selectmen will meet at 7 p.m. this evening at the Town House and their agenda, among other items, includes discussing a plan for the McGrath Farmhouse renovation and leasing, and talking about becoming a Green Community.

2. Fun Summer Workshops in West Concord
Got a little free time on Tuesday? Drop by Dabblers in West Concord, where the days workshops include Fun with Origami from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Wet Felting Beads from 1 to 2:30 p.m. 

3. Boogaloo Swamis Concert On the Library LawnBoston-based band Boogaloo Swamis, an outfit known for their rhythmic Cajun and Zydeco music, will perform at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Aug. 7, on the front lawn of the Concord Free Public Library as part of the library's Music on the Lawn series

4. Partial Road Closure on Sudbury RoadMight want to plan your routes around the section of Sudbury Road between Route 2 and Thoreau Street this Wednesday and Thursday. A partial road closure will be planned for those days as the town, weather permitting, will pave the street section as part of its 2012-2013 roads program. Get the details here.

5. Get Corny This SaturdayAre you an early riser? At 6 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 10, you can oin Steve Verrill and the crew at Verrill Farm for and early morning, hands-on farm experience. After picking and packing corn, everyone leaves with a dozen ears of corn.
