Celebrate Halloween Across the North Shore

From zombie-themed dances to trick or treating and old fashioned corn mazes, there is plenty to do on the North Shore to get into the spirt in the days leading up to Halloween.

Danvers

- The farm will be holding flashlight night in the maze on and a haunted cornfield. The maze is also open daily.

Peabody

Brooksby Farm - This is one stop shopping for fall fun. Hayrides, apple picking, scarecrow contests and even time to tag your own Christmas tree. Sat. Oct. 29 & Sun. Oct. 30 Children’s Hayride (come in costume) 12-3pm. Minimal fee (no charge if come in costume)

4 Seasons Craft Club: Pumpkin Decorating - Tuesday, Oct. 25, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Kids ages 5+ Join the library for pumpkin decorating. We supply the pumpkins and basic supplies, but please bring your own supplies if you want to do something special. There will be no carving done in this program. Space is limited, please call (978) 531-0100 ext. 29 to register.

Hallow Party at the McVann-O'Keefe Skating Rink, 511 Lowell St.:
Oct. 29, 7-9 p.m. $3 for kids 10 and under, $5 for youth and adults. Face-painting, music, prizes for best costume. Any questions call 978-535-2110.

- On Saturday, Oct. 29, a large adult Halloween party will be held at the Elks in Peabody.

Lynnfield

- The Lynnfield Public Library will hold a Halloween pajama party for children and their families on Thursday, Oct. 27 throughout the day, featuring the reading of Halloween stories, a fun Halloween craft and a Halloween snack. Halloween costumes are encouraged. No registration required.

Ipswich

Marini Farm - "Let Freedom Ring Corn Maze" is open daily. Flashlight nights are held each Friday and Saturday leading to Halloween. For more information, check the website.

Hamilton-Wenham

- On Sunday, Oct. 30, the Hamilton-Wenham Library will have a non-scary story time for kids and crafts.

Salem

The Hallowen capital of the world, there are many events happening in Salem during October. Here are some of the highlights.

- 289 Derby St. Take a spin on the rides and test your skill at the games at the annual Haunted Happenings Carnival.Fun for the whole family. Monday-Friday 3-10 p.m., Saturday-Sunday and Halloween noon to 10 p.m.

- From wizards to witches, there are several shows throughout the month. For more information, check their website.

- The Salem Common is the place to be if you have kids. Children's Day on the Common brings games, rides and food vendors the weekend of Oct. 21. On Oct. 29, catch a movie on the common fit for the family.

- Head to the Salem Willows on Saturday, Oct. 29 to see the start and end of the Devil's Chase 6.66 mile race and a group of people dressed as zombies perform "Thriller."

- Wear your Rocky Horror best and learn the Time Warp. Then jump to the left and step to the right in a noon performance on the Salem Common. Dance workshop 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m./Salem Boys & Girls Club, 13 Hawthorne Blvd. $15 general, $8 students/seniors.

Marblehead

Pumpkin Decorating Workshops for Children - Tuesday, Oct. 25, 170 Washington St. 1 to 2 p.m. - Children ages 2 to 4. 3-4:30 p.m. - Children ages 5 to 10. Pumpkin and snack will be provided. $10 per child/$15 per family per session. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited space. Reserve your spot now. Call 781-631-1768

Pumpkin Illumination - Thursday, Oct. 27. Carve a pumpkin to put on display.
Walk through the Lee Mansion Garden Wednesday evening for a special Halloween display. Pumpkin drop-off: 2:30-4 p.m., pumpkin judging: 4 p.m.
Illumination: 5-7:30 p.m. Admission: $3 each or $10 per family

- Come to the historic King Hooper Mansion
for a night of haunted mayhem as dark spirits from Marblehead's past rise up again and perform a ghostly spectacle that will chill you to your bones!
Date: Saturday, Oct. 22, Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. This event is family friendly but reccomended for children 6 and older

- On Thursday, Oct. 27, the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce will host a Trick or Treat night at participating stores throughout town. Take the kids out trick or treating throughout the business district and enjoy sweets and treats, spooky savings, and extended shopping hours at participating businesses throughout town. Look for the "Happy Halloween" pumpkin poster on the door or in the window to indicate participating businesses. Questions about the Trick or Treat, call the Chamber at 781-631-2868.

Swampscott

Halloween Parade - Monday, Oct. 31 at the Hadley School. Students come to school dressed in a costume. Make-up or sprays must be applied at home. They will not be permitted in school. Costumes may NOT include any objects which may be perceived as a weapon. All grades will march around the Hadley block (Humphrey, Elmwood) at 8:30 a.m. Onlookers and photographers may view the parade any where along the parade route. In the event of rain, students will have an opportunity to go to other classrooms to display their Halloween spirit. The Clark School will hold their parade at 8:45 a.m.

Pumpkin Display - Student leaders painted pumpkins.provided the pumpkins; students brought a sense of fun and Halloween spirit to this project. The decorated pumpkins are displayed in the Hadley front hall for the community to view on any day between 2:15-2:30 p.m. at the Hadley School. The students will take the pumpkins home on Monday, Oct. 31.

Halloween Party - The Children's Room is having a Halloween party on Tuesday,
October 25, at 3 p.m. Children are asked to come in costume and hear
some scary stories, make a Halloween craft and enjoy some treats. This
program is for children ages 5 and up. There is no registration required.
