Job Market Improving in Danvers/Peabody Area

The Danvers/Peabody area saw an increase in jobs in July.

It may be easier to find a job and get back to work in the Danvers area.

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development is reporting job growth in the Peabody area, including Danvers, in July 2012 over the previous month.

Over the year, the rates are down in all twenty two labor areas. Statewide, the July seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate was 6.6 percent, up 0.3 of a percentage point from 6.3 percent recorded in June. Over the year, the statewide unadjusted rate was down 0.9 of a percentage point from the July 2011 unadjusted rate of 7.5 percent, the agency reported.

The Barnstable area had the largest over the month rate of job growth due to seasonal gains. Over the year, nine of the twelve areas added jobs with the largest percentage gains in the Peabody, Barnstable, and Boston-Cambridge-Quincy areas. The seasonally adjusted statewide July unemployment rate, released on August 16th, was 6.1 percent, an increase of 0.1 of a percentage point over the June 6.0 percent, and down 1.3 percentage points from the 7.4 percent rate recorded in July 2011, according to the agency.
