Dedham Church Member Among Arrests At Hanscom AF Base

The arrests came following an attempt to deliver a letter protesting nuclear weapons development to the base commander.

A Dedham church member was one of six peace activists arrested outside of Hanscom Air Force Base.

Pat Ferrone of St. Susanna Parish in Dedham; along with John Bach of Arlington and Cambridge Friends Meeting; John Schuchardt of the House of Peace in Ipswich and Veterans for Peace; Laura Evans of Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport; Jerald Ross of Chelmsford, First Parish Bedford and Massachusetts Peace Action; and Dan McLaughlin of Cambridge, were arrested and charged with trespassing by the Lincoln Police Department.

The arrests came following an attempt to deliver a letter protesting nuclear weapons development to the base commander, according to State House News.

The base is the home of the Program Executive Office for Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications, which works to improve the communication system that would be used during a nuclear war.

All six were due in court May 29.
