Dedham Man Accused of Raping 2 Women in 30-Minute Span

The suspect, 38-year-old Roberto Ruffini, was released from jail just two weeks ago.

A Dedham man is facing serious charges after allegedly raping two women in Brockton within a 30-minute span on Sunday, the Brockton Enterprise reports.

The suspect, 38-year-old Roberto Ruffini, was released from jail just two weeks before allegedly committing the rapes.

Police say Ruffini picked up a 25-year-old woman just after 3 p.m. on Sunday and then proceeded to drive around Brockton to buy drugs. Ruffini then allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she did not obey his sexual demands.

“If you don’t want to die you’re going to do everything I say,” Ruffini threatened according to Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney James DeGiacomo.

Ruffini then allegedly choked the victim with rosary beads because she was not cooperating with all his requests. The victim was eventually able to break free from the attack and escape the moving vehicle.

Officers responded to the scene and the victim provided police with Ruffini’s description. While speaking with the victim, officers then learned of another reported assault at a nearby park.

About 30 minutes later, DeGiacomo said an EMT spotted a female victim in distress inside Ruffini’s vehicle at DW Field Park. The EMT noted the license plate number and phoned police.

The second victim, also 25, informed police that she was a prostitute and that Ruffini forced her to commit sexual acts. The victim also said Ruffini had been smoking crack cocaine prior to the assault.

Both victims positively identified Ruffini by his license photo. About two hours later, Ruffini was spotted by a patrol officer, pulled over and then arrested.

Police found rosary beads, a handbag belonging to one of the victims and her identification inside Ruffini’s car, DeGiacomo said.

Ruffini was arraigned on Monday and ordered held without bail. He will be back in court on Thursday.
