Dedham Misses Old-School Restaurants, According To Patch Survey
Fontaine's was the clear winner with the flashing chicken wing. Other blasts from the past include York Steak House and Isabella.
DEDHAM, MA - Dedham is nostalgic for old-school restaurants, acording to a Patch survey conducted on Facebook over the weekend.
Forty people left comments on the survey, where they mentioned old favorites including Fontaine's (with its flashing chicken wing), Isabella Restaurant, and family retaurants like York Steak House and Mug 'N Muffin.
Although it was located just over the border in West Roxbury, it was mentioned several times. It closed in 2005, but its sign was included in a neon sign art display on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in 2018, according to Boston Eater. Eleven people either commented or included a like or heart Facebook emoji when it was referenced.

"Isabella's was my all time favorite restaurant," wrote Jim Walsh. "Consistently great meals in a comfortable atmosphere. Once they closed, I have no favorite restaurant, but I am searching!"
York Steak House, a chain restaurant, was mentioned a few times, as was Arby's. P&J Bakery also received a couple of shout outs. Finian's seafood restaurant also made the list.

There were no restaurants that closed during the pandemic, which may indicate the strength of the eateries in Dedham Square and the Route One corridor.
For a sweet treat, one respondent mentioned Helman's candy store.
