The Dedham Police Department this week announced the launching of a new “home security check” program that is now available to Dedham residents.
The program, according to Dedham Police, is being offered as a “preventative program for the department to work with residents to help identify areas around your home where crime prevention measures may be applied.”

The intent of the program, moreover, is to “look for ways to make your home a less-suitable target,” as applying such crime-prevention measures could reduce the likelihood of certain types of crime, Dedham police said.
As part of the program, a Dedham police officer meets with a resident at his or her home in order to survey the property. The officer will then provide the resident with a report based on the survey that offers recommendations on ways to boost crime-prevention measures in or around the home.
