DEDHAM, MA — Dedham's Select Board is mulling over the possibility of lowering the Town Meeting quorum for this fall's meeting.
Dedham's Fall Annual Town Meeting is set for Nov. 30 but because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in COVID-19 cases, Town Meeting will be held via Zoom this fall. The board is thinking of lowering the quorum as a way to keep the meeting moving efficiently and effectively.
The Select Board plans on discussing the possible lowering of the quorum at its virtual meeting on Nov. 5 at 7:10 p.m.

The switch to host Town Meeting over Zoom was not made lightly and officials conferred with the town's public health department as well as the Town Meeting moderator.
"We understand that while many Town Meeting Representatives are glad not to choose between their health and attending Town Meeting in person, there are also many Town Meeting Representatives that may not feel comfortable using the Zoom platform. Please note that Moderator is offering five different dates for training, and will also arrange one on one coaching if and as needed," the town said in a statement.
