Facebook Scam, Road Rage, Shoplifting: Dedham Police Log

May 1

12:58 p.m. - A person was arrested on a warrant.

3:39 p.m. - A woman told police that a friend she was communicating with over Facebook Messenger recommended donating money to a grant which provides to people in need. After she was instructed to send the money via Western Union, she realized she was scammed and her friend’s account was likely hacked. The money was picked up by an unknown person in South Carolina.

6:21 p.m. - Police responded to a road rage incident o High Street. One driver told police that she was going south on Route 1 when she stopped. The driver of a vehicle behind her began beeping and yelling at her before a passenger threw a beverage at her. The driver of the other vehicle said the first driver was traveling in the breakdown lane and her daughter got scared and threw the drink.

6:54 p.m. - A fight was reported at Five Guys Burgers on Route 1.

May 4

4:33 p.m. - During a traffic stop on High Street, a driver was issued a citation for operating with suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

May 5

2:25 p.m. - During a check of parking spaces at DSW Shoes on Route 1, a citation was issued for wrongful use of a handicapped placard.

May 6

12:01 p.m. - During a check of parking spaces at BJ’s on Route 1, a citation was issued for a handicap parking violation.

1:32 p.m. - A shoplifter was reported at Ocean State Job Lot on Route 1. The store will be seeking their own complaint against the suspect.
