Food Drive For Veterans To Take Place Saturday In Dedham
The drive is hosted by the nonprofit organization Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc., will provide boxes of food for local veterans.
DEDHAM, MA — A food drive for veterans will be held in Dedham on Saturday. The drive is hosted by the nonprofit organization Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc., and will provide boxes of food for local veterans.
The food drive is open to any veteran who needs food during the difficult time presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Veterans do not need to live in Dedham to attend the food drive.
Veterans will be given nonperishable, pantry food items. Disabled and Limbless Veterans also plans to provide items such as hot dogs and bread, and are hoping to be able to provide additional essentials such as eggs and cheese.

When veterans arrive at the food drive, they will need to present a type of military identification, which can also include a Veterans Affairs card or a drivers license that identifies them as a veteran.
To ensure the health and safety of all involved, veterans will be able to drive up, open their trunk for volunteers to load the food and leave. All volunteers will wear masks and gloves and keep the proper distance during the food drive.

The food has been donated by sponsors of Disabled and Limbless Veterans. Some sponsoring organizations have also donated funds for Disabled and Limbless Veterans to purchase supplies for the drive. The sponsors include, Eastern Bank, Dadgar Insurance/HUB International, Middlesex County Deputy Sheriff's Association and Trans Med USA Inc.
The June 6 date was chosen as it is the 76th anniversary of the Normandy landings in World War II.
