Legacy Place Holds Check Presentation For Competition Winners

Legacy Place held a check presentation for the winners of the fifth annual Literacy Legacy Competition in Massachusetts.

From Legacy Place: Last Thursday, May 11, Legacy Place held a check presentation for the winners of the fifth annual Literary Legacy Competition, a journalism contest that connects high school juniors and seniors with Legacy Place businesses.

Winning articles highlighted A Ruby, Showcase Cinema de Lux and Athleta. Literary Legacy is sponsored by Citizens Bank. Literary Legacy invites students to hone their journalistic skills by writing thoughtful articles on Legacy Place businesses. Legacy Place first matches the interested students with businesses. The students then conducted interviews with business managers and owners, and submitted their final articles to Legacy Place.

This year, there were 12 contenders in the Literary Legacy Competition. Legacy Place narrowed it down to three winners, who each received a college scholarship. The first place winner, Salome Tkebuchava, received a $1,000 scholarship for her article on Avra Myers, Co-Founder of A Ruby. The second place winner, Gabrielle Landry, received a $500 scholarship for her piece on Showcase Cinema de Lux. The third place winner, Anusha Manglik, also received $500 for her feature on Athleta. The 12 articles can be found here. “We are thrilled to bring back the Literary Legacy competition for the fifth year in a row,” said Jessica Reed, Marketing Manager of Legacy Place. “The competition is an example of our ongoing efforts to engage with the community and student population in and outside of Dedham. We are so proud of all the students that participated.”
