Mass. One of 10 Best States to Have a Baby, Report Says
The Bay State was ranked No. 8 on WalletHub's "Best and Worst States to Have a Baby" survey.

Massachusetts is one of the best places in the country to have a baby, according to a new report.

The personal finance service WalletHub ranked all 50 states in its Best and Worst States to Have a Baby survey. The Bay State came in at No. 8. Vermont was No. 1.
Massachusetts earned a high ranking due to its availability of pediatric services and low infant death rate, among other factors. WalletHub also based its rankings on factors like midwives and OB-GYNs per capita and parental leave policies.

Having a baby in the United States is an expensive endeavor. The average cost of a delivery is $9,775. In France, that figure is $3,541. In the United Kingdom, it’s $2,641. The U.S. has the most expensive birthing costs in the world, according to WalletHub.
