Phase Two of the Dedham Square Barrier Project completed

Volunteers from Dedham Civic Pride and other organizations braved the heat to complete the project.

Sunday, June 26th was a perfect beach day, but a group of volunteers, instead of being on the beach, were at the barriers in front of Oscar's and Dedham House of Pizza, with paintbrushes in hand.

Phase Two of the Dedham Square Barrier Painting Project, sponsored by Dedham Civic Pride and the Public Art Committee started at 10:00 am with the painters adding the maroon, gray and white stripes to the barriers while another volunteered stenciled the foot tall "D"'s on each barrier with graphite paper. As the volunteers worked the sun and temperatures increased in intensity. Even with keeping hydrated the weather won out and the painters temporarily shut down the work at 2:00 pm. Rejoining at 7:00 pm, the volunteer painters finished up the remaining two barriers and touched up some of the work around the stenciled "D". Later in the week a protective coat will be added over the paint.

The Dedham Square Barrier Painting Project was funded by a grants from the Dedham Culture Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, Dedham Savings Bank, and the Dedham Junior Women's Club.
