Ongoing work to install parking meters in Dedham Square will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 12, as detailed below. Please be aware that some parking spaces may be unavailable during the day when crews are on site.

The contractor has provided an anticipated schedule for upcoming work in the area:

  • Week of Oct. 11 - After the Monday holiday, crews will be working:
    • On the east side of Washington Street, north of High Street, from the alley next to Courthouse Cigar Co. to C2 Body.
    • On the west side of Eastern Avenue, south of High Street, from CVS to Big Bear Cafe.
  • Week of Oct 18 - Work should begin:
    • On the east side of Eastern Avenue, from the corner of High Street south to the Keystone parking lot entrance.
    • On the south side of High Street, from the corner of Eastern Avenue east toward the highway underpass.

Construction may occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The work includes temporary removal of brick pavers, masonry sawing and installation of electrical conduit, removal of old parking kiosks, installation of new utility boxes, meters, and Wi-Fi equipment. 

Meters are being installed in the same area formerly managed by the parking kiosks, excluding the new outdoor seating areas.

Meters are active in these locations:

Along both sides of Washington Street, between High and Bryant streets, metered parking is enforced 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Parking is free before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays.

Along High Street west of Washington Street and on Court Street, metered parking is enforced 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking is free before 8 a.m. and after 4 p.m. and all day on Sundays. 

Tips for Using New Parking Meters:

  • You do not have to pay when you park. You can pay when you leave. You will only receive a violation notice in the mail if you leave without paying.
  • First 10 minutes are free. Pay before you leave to take advantage of this 10-minute grace period.
  • Parking is limited to 2-hours during the posted times.
  • Meters accept payment by card, coins, or through the mobile app (Sentry Mobile app).
  • Parking meter automatically detects when a car is parked and when it exits a space.
