Residents can expect to see their new, 96-gallon trash carts delivered to their homes as early as Monday, November 29, 2021. The Town has contracted with Cascade Cart Solutions (Cascade) to produce and deliver the new carts, and to remove the old carts for potential credits back to the Town.

A process has been designed by members of the Town and Cascade to make an efficient exchange of carts and to ensure residents are not without a trash cart. Following the regular trash schedule, residents will place their trash outside on their trash collection day and Waste Management will pick up the trash for disposal. Following behind Waste Management will be a team from Cascade who will remove the old carts. A separate team will follow the same routes for assembly and delivery of the new, 96-gallon trash carts on the same day. Please do not take in your old trash cart.

Each Dedham residence will be given one, 96-gallon cart to replace the existing 64-gallon cart. The new trash carts are designed to be unique to Dedham; crimson red with white lettering. Once the new trash cart has been delivered, trash will only be collected from the new cart. Overflow bags may still be used for excess household trash. No additional trash carts are available at this time.

Additional Information About Trash and Recycling Updates:

Beginning on January 1, 2022, residents will pay for the pick-up and disposal of white goods and bulky items at the time of scheduling directly with Waste Management. Additionally, residents will receive a larger trash cart to replace the existing 64-gallon cart. Developed as part of the Town’s ongoing process to review solid waste and recycling options in Dedham, these changes are expected to improve service to residents, help control increasing costs for disposal, and continue to support the Town’s environmental goals.
