As of Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Dedham Department of Public Works (DPW) is awaiting delivery of the remaining new trash carts from Cascade Cart Solutions (Cascade) for distribution to Dedham residents.

The trash carts are being delayed because of trucking issues with the vendor and CSX Railroad Yard. The Town has been informed that CSX does not have enough trucks (chassis) to transport the carts to Dedham and will not receive the carts until this is resolved.
While awaiting transport of the carts, DPW has been working with Cascade to contact each household that may still be without a trash cart, old or new, and provide them with a trash cart to use until a new, 96-gallon cart is delivered to the home.

Until further updates are available regarding the delivery of the remaining inventory, the DPW has provided the following instructions:
- If your old trash cart was picked up and you have not yet received a new cart, please contact the DPW at 781-751-9350 and they will work with Cascade to provide you with a cart until a new one is delivered to your home.
- If you received a new trash cart and your old cart has not been picked up, please leave your old cart at the curb, empty, and a team will come by to pick it up.
- If you still have your old cart and have not yet received your new cart, please continue to use your old cart until a new cart is delivered to your home. Once you receive the new cart, please leave your old cart at the curb, empty, for pick up.
Each home will receive one, 96-gallon trash cart to replace the previous 64-gallon trash cart. The increased capacity was selected to address the following:
- Provide additional capacity for bulk item/white good disposal
- Help to reduce recycling contamination (trash found in recycling carts)1
- Save money in replacement and repair costs for existing carts beyond useful life2
The Town would like to thank everyone for their patience through this process and will continue to provide updates when available.
