Woman Who Became Paralyzed Following Childbirth Awarded $35.4 Million
The verdict for Andrea Larkin, 35, who was treated at Dedham Medical associates, was handed down in Norfolk Superior Court Thursday.

A Walpole woman, treated at Dedham Medical Associates, who became paralyzed following childbirth has been awarded $35.4 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit.
The Boston Globe reported that Andrea Larkin sought treatment for dizziness from Dedham Medical Associates after running the 2004 Boston Marathon. Tests revealed brain abnormalities, which would have required her to be placed on a list of patients with certain medical conditions that’s accessible by other doctors. She was not.
Larkin suffered a massive stroke after giving birth to her daughter, leaving her completely paralyzed except for movement in her right arm, the Globe reports.
